Golden Globes 2014: Results and Commentary

I am opening my Golden Globes post fangirling Kings of Leon's acoustic version of Last Mile Home.  I have a penchant for acoustic versions of songs, and this song at the end of August: Osage County is phenomenal.

Onto the real reason you are here, the ballot and show commentary!

(Or it's Monday morning and you are bored at work. Welcome!)

It's another year of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosting, along with a little competition between the TV Lass and her best friend.  She's snarkier and usually spot on, but she's no TV Lass.  Truth is we started ballots many years ago in google docs spreadsheets.  I think if we put half the effort we put into being pop culture enthusiasts, we would be running the world.

Tina and Amy did a great job opening the show.  Tam Honks will live in infamy. I still need to see Captain Phillips. The good thing about Tina and Amy hosting is that it is so streamlined. Harvey Weinstein's illegitimate child was awesome (insert casting couch jokes here).  I would want Idris Elba as my dad too.  Loved the Leo DiCaprio joke with supermodels so true.

Emma Thompson is my kindred, to walk out as presenter with a martini and shoeless.  New goal in life, be that awesome.

For me best dressed was Olivia Wilde.  Love her, love green, and go watch Drinking Buddies.  Second Runner up, Zooey Deschanel, even though she needed some editing, I loved it. Worst dressed, Paula Patton, she's just so try.

Well Meg won, until next year!
