Revenge: Perception

Emily's perception is blinded by one thing, revenge.  Glad to see Emily's revenge is back on track, I want to the black hearted Victoria Grayson go down.

Victoria tried to improve her relationship with her daughter by going to lunch with Declan, which was at god forbid a bar.  While this may have helped the situation, Jack certainly made sure that Victoria's secrets would be revealed to Charlotte and Daniel.

In this episode, you see that Emily has a heart.  After she saw the touching moment between Charlotte and Connie, Emily decided not to reveal that they share the same father.  But Jack burst into the engagement dinner and confronted Victoria on leaving Amanda Clarke all alone in a time of need.  He also outed her secret affair and Charlotte and Daniel found out the truth.

The best part of the episode was Emily coming home to the ball invitation that someone left for her.  It is so rare in the story when Emily is surprised.  I would not have been able to sleep that night if I found that in my home.  And this all leads up to the episode we have been waiting for all season.  I cannot wait!  But who left the ominous message for Emily?

Revenge: Commitments

I didn't want to get sucked into Revenge.  I truly didn't need to add in another show to my already taxing schedule.  Even right now, I am trying to figure out how to fit in all the movies for the award shows, tv, reading, and a social life.  I want to write more robust reviews for you guys.  I am doing all for the love of entertainment and my blog readers.

So my friend got me into Revenge, after catching up from the first 3 episodes I was hooked.  While I was out with my 22 year old cousins over the holidays, we saw my friend; and then we got my cousin hooked.  My cousin has NEVER watched script tv shows.  Could you imagine?  I remember growing up when everything was scripted.  Buffy, Dawson's, West Wing, Gilmore Girls, Popular.......my teenage years.

So what is Connie upto with offering to pay for Declan's school?  I think all Graysons have an ulterior motive. Oddly, I don't know if Daniel has an ulterior motive with Emily, does he really just want to get back at his dad?  Anyone at the age to be in graduate school would be past that? Right?  I mean my parents are divorced, I don't think I could do that.

Back to last week's post is Daniel that innocent?  Why am I not enjoying this version of Emily's revenge? Or getting engaged after a summer together? I agreed with the decision to pause the revenge for a bit.  And Amanda Clarke leaving, god was she annoying.  But here is why I watch this show, when you know how evil someone is they still surprise you with how low this will go. Victoria will do anything to maintain her lifestyle, and the love of her son.  The end when Daniel tells Emily his mother's accusations, it was a very nuanced reaction by Emily VanCamp, and it looks like her revenge is right back on track.

Revenge: Talented Mr. Ripley?

From last week's episode, Tyler self-destructed which Emily Thorne used to her advantage in tying up some lose ends like Frank's wallet as well as his death.  The writers said they wanted Tyler's character to be like The Talented Mr. Ripley.  Anyone remember that movie?  It starred all gorgeous actors, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, and Matt Damon.  It was beautifully shot, and I remember being so disturbed by it that I didn't care to see it again.  I wonder if a movie like that would get made today in the age of remakes/reboots, sequels, and comic books brought to film.

Anyway after a quick movie rant, back to Revenge.  I wasn't surprised by Tyler's demise.  Granted I love Emily's revenge and seeing her enact revenge every week is great and instantly gratifying.  But wouldn't you say Jack and Daniel are innocents in this and she's ultimately hurting them too?  How great is revenge if you hurt the one person you care about?   We are also shown how corrupt the Graysons really are. So is Daniel that innocent?  One thing for sure, Victoria Grayson deserves her comeuppance, I wonder how Emily is going to handle Charlotte as her half sister.  That's one way to ensure Connie gets everything in the divorce.

On a final note, did Treadwell remind anyone of Prof. Plum from Clue?  If they remake that movie, he's my casting choice.
